Dear Friends,

Thank you for visiting our website!

The Miracle Foundation was created from a place of great gratitude and with a strong desire to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Seventeen years ago, following the occurrence of Mike Tenaglia's cancer being in remission, we set out to give back and to improve the lives of cancer patients.

We were not exactly certain at the time how we would go about making a difference, but Michael was a big thinker, and we knew, that with the support of our friends and family and our incredibly caring community, we could impact change.

Seventeen years and over four million dollars in grant money later, Long Islanders have a new Cancer Treatment Center; kids fighting cancer have a new Preschool, supportive specialists and therapeutic programs, and a Palliative Care Center has been established. I'm not certain what Michael Tenaglia envisioned, but I am certain he is proud of the many accomplishments that bear the name of the Miracle Foundation.

Some highlights include:

Establishing The Miracle Foundation Palliative Care Center in partnership with the Hospice Care Network to provide in-home intervention and support to families facing a serious diagnosis

Adopting and fully funding the Back in the Game program, an innovative physical therapy and strength training program which enables pediatric cancer patients to resume their former physical and sporting activities

Awarding grants totaling $400,000 to provide a full-time Child Life Specialist for the Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, New York for over eight years

Creating The Miracle Foundation Pavilion, a 22,000 square foot state-of-the-art cancer treatment center envisioned by and dedicated to Michael J. Tenaglia and staffed by Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center health care professionals, such that people no longer need to travel to New York City for world class care and protocols

Financing approximately $600,000 of breakthrough research by the world’s preeminent cancer researcher, Dr. Bert Vogelstein of Johns Hopkins University's Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, which led to a Phase 1 Clinical Trial for end-stage cancer patients.

The awarding of grants totaling over $500,000 to Dr. Michael Wigler of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, to develop an affordable DNA Biopsy for breast cance rpatients.

Granting $330,000 to Dr. David Abramson of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to develop a revolutionary ocular prosthetic to benefit retinoblastoma patients

Founding sponsor of The Morgan Center, a unique Preschool for 3, 4, and 5 year old children with cancer, whose immune systems are suppressed and who therefore could not otherwise enjoy a preschool experience or setting

Enable and provide tutelage to school-based Miracle Clubs such that students can make a difference in the fight against cancer.

Underwritten tuition to Camp Adventure, a unique one week camp opportunity for children with cancer such that they and their siblings could attend free of charge.

Funding a Therapeutic Medical Massage Program for economically disadvantaged cancer patients and survivors through the Dominican Sisters of Amityville, New York

None of this could have been possible without your generosity and ongoing support. On behalf of The Miracle Foundation, I thank you for your support of our mission and for sharing our hopes for the future.
